There are two important ideas
in understanding the relevance of solar energy and geomagnetic
energy for a Vastu. The first concept is based on vector
analysis of the ever-changing directional solar energy
field as imposed on steady North-South geomagnetic flux.
The second concept tries to understand the relationship
between electromagnetic flux and movement of sub-atomic
particles.
Jaivik Urja and Pranik
Urja
The north-south geomagnetic flux
is termed as lf (Jaivik Urja i.e. organic energy) in ancient
Indian texts. This force field helps in locating the energy
medians in living beings and providing them with natural
orientation. This eternal unidirectional flow defines,
directs and propagates the existence at cellular level.
The solar energy flux keeps on changing as per the position
of the sun relative to the earth. This force field with
photon quanta as energy packets is classically termed
as- (Pranik Urja).
In Vastu-Purush-Mandal, deities are identified with the
positive or negative confluence of these fluxes in relation
to changing position of the sun. The symbolic nomenclatures,
the deities, their spheres of influence as related to
virtues and vices are self-explanatory.
The Concept of Vastu Shastra
Event manifest is the main subject
of vastu shastra. Energetic is the prime concept of vastu
shastra. Balance of five great elements is the real purpose
of vastu shastra. Helical streams of energy are the content
of vastu shastra. Protection is the core of vastu shastra.
Vastu shastra works on three dimensions of person viz
physical phenomenal [Aadhi Bhoutik], psychological [Aadhi-Daivik]
and spiritual [Aadhyatmik]. Physics being a physical phenomenal
& analytical in nature it is illogical to demand physical
proofs from vastu shastra. Its field being vast &
subtle related to human & cosmic consciousness, its
reflection is beyond the orbit of present science. It's
boundary begins where the present science obverses silence.
It has subjective & projective dimensions, which transcend
the limits of cause- effect relationship, cross the bounds
of analytical scientific queries. It's base is "Yad
pinde Tad Brahmande "As in macrocosm so in microcosm"
It is said as "Ghat Bimb- siddhant." Blissful
relation to nature, friendly relation to environment,
and holistic approach of existence is the motto of vastu
shastra. Journey of energy is made helical to flower the
inner spaces of Being in vastu shastra.
APPLIED VASTU SHASTRA
Modern construction has radiating
heat prone materials hence have critical high thermal effect,
which activates the radiations & negativity.
Environmentally friendly local materials are out of date
& concrete jungles have spoiled the beauty & bliss
of natural existence. Hence the tenets of vastu shastra
have immense importance in present world. Since vastu shastra
leads to balancing of five great elements very naturally
it creates pollution free & active zones. Solar reference
is the prime subject in tropical countries. As vastu shastra
has its rules to curtail the scorching sun effects, it assures
you a healthy & smooth life.
VASTU SHASTRA - DIRECTIONS
& ZONES
Directions have a character on the
basis of streams. Streams define the virtue of directions.
North to south electromagnetic flux is traditionally termed
as jaivik-oorja. It is a unidirectional & continuous
stream, which is the main source of existence. North being
source point of this energy & south being sink point
of this energy, North & south are called as source &
sink directions respectively. East is a source direction
of pranik (solar) energy and west is a sink direction of
pranik energy .Positive & negative confluence of these
streams lead to virtue & vices in vastu-shastra. Foundation
of Vastu Purush Mandal is these two streams, where in position
of deities has relevance to confluence of these two streams.
Sub directions are zones of confluence of these two streams,
Hence any fault in sub direction have direct effect on both
streams leading severe implication, due to loss of energetic
of Vastu. Event manifest i.e. Bhagya-kalpa is possible provided
the two streams create spaces of their positive confluence.
Which room should be constructed in which direction, if
this consideration is not kept in mind while planning a
house, the whole building may go against the principles
of and it will create lot of troubles causing harms and
loss to the owner/inmates. People are generally ignoring
this fact and are constructing house according to their
choice. Architects now a day prepare house-plans without
considering the principles and rules given by ancient Vastu-Shastra.
They keep in mind the latest designs, imitating the designs
based on foreign culture but if the basic principles of
Vastu satisfying the five basic materials (Panch Mahabhutas)
are ignored, the house becomes the root cause or troubles,
losses and sorrows in the life of the inmates.
For example, it has become a fashion these days to construct
kitchen near the main gate. Reason for doing so is given
that for most of the time a housewife has to remain in the
kitchen and it becomes easy to her to keep a watch on the
main door, and that she can conveniently attend to any body
calling at the door. How strange and any visitor or guest
should be received and entertained by the head of the family
and the guest room/drawing room should be near the main
door. Visitors come from all the classes of society and
have to be treated in different ways depending upon their
status.
Indian Vastu Shastra divides
the house into 16 parts wherein rooms or various purposes
should be constructed, keeping the directions in mind as
follows: -
Direction Room to be constructed.
-
East Bathroom
-
South-east Kitchen
-
South Bed room
-
South-west Room
for weapons
-
West Dining room
-
North-west Grain
store
-
North Treasury
-
North-east Room
of worship
-
Between East and
South-east Room for churning curd
-
Between South and
South-east Room for storage for Ghee etc.
-
Between South and
South-west Latrine (W.C.)
-
Between South-West
and West Study room
-
Between West and
North-west Punishment room for expressing sympathy or
sorrow.
-
Between North and
North-West Bed Room for young couple
-
Between North and
North-east Medicine Room
-
Between East and
North-East Common/Drawing Room
-
Besides these,
there are other opinions also:
-
In South -West corner
Clothes Room (Wardrobe)
-
North-west corner
Cattle shed
-
North-east Water
bodies-tank, well etc.
-
North-west
Toilet.
As far as possible,
various rooms should be oriented in the house as per directions
given in Shastra-Shastra. Some of the rooms, such as room
for churning curd, store for ghee, room for expressing sorrow,
etc. may not be necessary in modern times. These may be
utilized for other purposes; In case of shortage of space
position of the rooms may be adjusted as per convenience
and necessity. But there are some rooms, which must be kept
in the position suggested in Shastra-shastra. If these are
built in some other prohibited space, it will prove inauspicious
and harmful for the inmates.
In modern times it is not feasible to
build big houses having large number of rooms as mentioned
in Vastu Shastra. Houses are built on small plots, which
cannot accommodate many rooms. Therefore it is advised
to construct the house in accordance with the principles
of Vastu, in abridged form having rooms as per necessity
and convenience.
Auspicious good time should be selected for starting the
work of a house. A learned astrologer should be consulted
because by doing so the construction work will go on smoothly,
there will be no hindrances or problems, work will be
completed soon successfully. Often it has been observed
that if the work is started without caring for the auspicious
moment, the work has to be stopped in between due to financial
difficulties or other problems and is left incomplete.
Not only financial loss, it brings loss of mental peace
also. Therefore house construction work must be started
after full consideration specially if the above-mentioned
facts are cared for, the work will be auspicious, successful
and fruitful.
Vastu shastra and precious stones
In accordance to the classification & zoning of direction
there are two systems of burying auspicious stones. One
system refers to the plot & other system refers to
the house. Since this ritual contains play of vibrations,
waves, and sound & light together, it is a powerful
remedy that equalizes the irregularities in Vastu &
house. It is said that tones of over load of earth along
with huge segregation of minerals surrounded by very high
thermal activity in the womb of earth creates a possibility
for materializing the precious stones. Hence it is obvious
& evident those even small precious stones carries
a great link to cosmic energy & an important message
if used in proper way. There are nine types of precious
stones, which represent a seed of solar system & continuity
of particular planet. Hence use of these stones in relation
to the desired effect of zone is fixed critically &
logically in both the traditional systems.
In practical life it is very difficult to get exact square
or rectangular plot in layouts. If the plots are square
& rectangular then it is very difficult to get right
slopes in the contours of plot. So in natural condition
to implement the science one has to follow the remedial
measures to equalize the effects of planets & effects
of five great elements. Here this method of placing precious
stones plays important role to adjust the aura of each
zone. This adjustment is sometimes a subtraction or sometimes
addition of particular planetary element. Though the ritual
looks to be simple for execution & difficult to digest
for a practical mind, effects are eternally good &
positive. Logic used for adjustment is based on two principles
In Vastu-Purush-Mandal Pavan, Soma, and Ish the virtuous
Deities are assigned to these directions only. Yoga shastra
specifies these very directions as zones of Ida or Chandra
Nadi, which represents all the positive life processes.
In astrological considerations, the fourth house in a
horoscope is associated with Northern directions and represents
happiness in life.
YOGA SHASTRA CONCEPTS IN VASTU
SCIENCE
Eastern thinking considers Vastu to be a living soul acting
as a companion to the Vastu occupants. In the Hindu ethos,
every Goddess is invariably associated with its own divine
vehicle or chariot - Nandi the carrier of Shiva, Lotus
the carrier of Laxmi and Brahma, Garuda the carrier of
Vishnu etc. This divine relationship is also evident between
a person and his home. The ritual of Vastushanti aims
at removing negative elements from living space inside
the Vastu and replacing these with constructive cosmic
powers.
When we consider the flow of energy within a Vastu and
the role of deities associated with Vastu directions,
remarkable similarity between the concepts of Yogashastra
and Vastushastra can be perceived.
Yogashastra speaks of three basic 'energy streams in a
human body;
Ida stream is associated with the North and the East
directions. This stream is considered as bliss flowing
from material happiness and contentment of the five senses.
New beginnings should be made, good work initiated, and
important decisions taken only in the stream of Ida nadi.
ARCHITECTURE TODAY A VASTU VIEW
India, the motherland of the Aryans, has a rich heritage
right from the ancient times. Only this land provides
some form of continuity and roots for every single culture
in this world. As per the nature's laws every ascent,
after crossing a peak, is followed by descent. Same thing
has happened to the Indian cultural and religious leadership.
All the same, it is quite interesting to discover the
beautiful way in which science and culture intermingled
in ancient times to provide cosmic touch to the human
life. Evidence of this pattern is available in several
traditions and rituals practiced even today. In the Vedic
times science and art, seasons and rituals, traditions
and culture all travel-led hand in hand to develop the
human mind as the ever-flowing essence of nature. It was
a holistic endeavor with rhythm of intelligence and harmony
of mind. Utility was just one aspect of this life, but
not the only aim as seen in modem American culture.
In the 17th, the 18th and the 19th centuries, India unfortunately
had to face rule by quaint people for whom trading was
life, utility was tradition and counting coins was religion.
These uncouth people destroyed the flow of Indian traditions.
For new generations influenced by incorrect ideas of lifestyle,
copying of Western customs has become the standard practice
for their own version of cultural identity. In this cultural
cyclone, many a good things in Indian tradition have started
disappearing.
Now, we are in the midst of a completely degenerate and
manipulative cultural scene. Bhagavad-Gita says that,
"To enter somebody else's shelter is akin to death".
We are witnessing the same phenomenon, more so, in the
case of Vastu shastra. In a way, the architects who have
surrendered themselves to the Western culture and have
borrowed ideas not suitable for the tropical environments
should take the major share of the blame for this scenario.
